Sometimes the weather gods smile down on you and deliver you the conditions you wish. After experience several days of rain and overcast skies Alan and I finally caught a break. Despite overcast skies all day the storm system departed at the right time, revealing a gap along the western horizon at sunset. While trudging through the wet ground to reach the canyon rim, mud clung to our shoes and soon enough we sported yeti-sized feet. It was then the sun dipped under the clouds and ignited the sky in burning oranges and pinks. Coupled with this stunning view of striped canyon walls, it was worth the several day wait. via 500px http://ift.tt/132NDbS
